Reminiscing about those good old days has brought me to this, lo and behold, a band called 'Kurasaraksasa Band'. Yes, there is a 'band' at the end of the name.

Now, we are not affiliated to them, I stress the 'not', but do give them the same amount of support you've given us, and semoga berjaya!

Hello again people,

So I was flipping through yesterday's The Star, and to my horror I saw Kurasaraksasa's name under Booths for RANtai Merdeka, happening at JayaOne. (Click)

I'm sorry, but WE ARE NOT OPENING A BOOTH OR SELLING ANYTHING during RANtai 2.
Despite that, do go for the art event and support your local artists (be it musicians, painters, poets, whatever).

The long-awaited Kurasa Something Video!

Many thanks to Fairuz Sulaiman who edited the video in time despite his busy schedule, and to all of us, John, Arif, +wondermilk, Ifzan, Dzu, Shamly, Ena, Arafat, Deepset, Lord Sunny Day and the Cover Ups, and those who came.

Sorry for the super-late update, I thought one of my gundiks would do the honour of updating the blog when I had no internet access, but no, I guess they're not honoured enough to do it.
Oh well.

Kurasa Something di Wondermilk gathered a decent and humble crowd, not too crowded, so it was just nice. I keep on telling people that the event kind of reminded me of a scene in Be Kind Rewind, a humble get together.
Thanks to those who bought their paintings, and their hand-painted tshirts. We'd like to give a round of applause and appreciation for the proud owners of 13 artistic tshirts (chewah).
I believe the Kurasa Something di Wondermilk tshirt is still available in Wondermilk, so grab yours now! I mean, NOW!

Thanks also to wondermilk for giving out free cupcakes and, get this, 10% of the cupcake sales on that day to the Autistic school! I was obviously delighted by the kind gesture.

All in all, despite the rain and all the other events happening that time, Kurasa Something was awesome and to those who didn't make it. TOO BAD.

Went to the school last week for preparations and on Thursday, the kids painted on the tshirts and 3 canvasses.
The parents and teachers have been really supportive, and the tshirts turned out very nice.

Clickie Biggie

Heya! Kurasa Something is back again, bigger and better this time around with the help of Wondermilk!
The charity event will be happening on the 7th of June at the Wondermilk Cafe (for those who still don't know, it's at Uptown Damansara).

Kurasaraksasa! is also 1 year old already! It's been a fast moving year for all of us, we've had a whole lot of arguments, blood, sweat and tears shed, we're definitely not the best peoples to work together, but thank God we've overcome our differences little by little. I'd like to thank all my teammates for making Kurasa happen, GG, Ben, Naim, Irna, and to all those who have supported us along the way, be it our fans, friends we've made, and also those who have helped us out with events. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hello people!

Many thanks for those who came to support us (the bands, Fairuz, and us) during Motion Picture Soundtrack 4! We hope we did a good job at entertaining those who came with our humble attempt at live visuals.

Despite the suggestions, I have yet to find myself a pack of apple chips :-(
I am quite convinced now that it is officially extinct (in Malaysia/Klang Valley).
Give me a light of hope, buy me one and give it to me if you see me.

Anywho, this fortnight's Thing-of-the-Fortnight is... *drumroll*

The Free Hugs at Tugu Negara thing which is happening THIS SUNDAY!!! 6th of April to be exact.
Do come and offer your warmest hugs.
For those who don't know/remember, Tugu Drum Circle have their own thing going on there every Sunday, so if you have some sort of percussion-thing (I don't know what you call them thingies), come and release your inner musical prodigy.
Or something.

They used to be available in Carrefour Alamanda, but my recent visit there proved that these scrumptious, delicate, divine-tasting apple chips to be extinct.

Sorry for the lack of updates, fret not, we have not abandoned Kurasaraksasa!
We announced on our Myspace page that we'll be taking a year break to concentrate on our studies. It's been a great, fast-moving year for us, and it's about time we step back from taking part in gigs and let the new labels fill up the space.

Our tshirts will be available in stores.
(For now you can get them at Dolls Store and Super Sunday's concept store, both at BB)

In the mean time, mark you calendar because this 20th March, we'll be involved with Fairuz Sulaiman for Motion Picture Soundtrack 4 at Laundry Bar. Click the image for, well, the flyer.

Media and corporate attention: Miracle or menace?

In 2007, the Malaysian indie music scene had been given heaps of attention far more than previously. Media coverage increased with the introduction of Junk Magazine in the last quarter of 2006 while entertainment-media businesses began to allocate air-time for indie music. Corporate businesses (especially telcos) began to realize the increasing youth market potential in the scene previously untapped and ignored while fashion brands are turning their seasons over to "nu-rave" -- the current favourite look of young indie hipsters.

All this have meant promotional miracles and a resulting sheen -- not without a subtle "Malaysia Boleh!" aura -- for the indie music scene. Show organisers no longer need to hit the streets and distribute gig flyers. Musicians can upload their music on an increasing number of dedicated websites and receive instant response while indie fashion labels are taking on names beyond the hipster periphery.

However, with this sudden burst of perceived "coolness", the questions loom: Is the scene ready for this? Will the corporate sponsors taint the outright honesty and dignified purity we've worked so hard and long for?
